2017 Tesla base variants get substantial acceleration increments

Tesla has updated its Model S and X non-performance variants in a bid to improve the acceleration of that line-up. So now the Model S 75 and 75D versions can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.6 sec and 4.4 sec, which is a full second quicker than the earlier 5.8 sec and 5.4 sec respectively.

On the same lines, the Model X 75D can now hit 100kmph from standstill in just 5.2 sec, compared to the earlier 6.2 sec needed to complete the same feat. Tesla also claims that the update on the Model S 100D and Model X 100D help them clock the 0-100kmph run in a marginally quicker 4.3 sec and 4.9 sec (earlier 4.4 sec and 5.0 sec).

Sources admit that this update offers a substantial increment in terms of straight-line performance for both base models. However, one needs to note that these increments are a result of a combination of software and hardware updates. This essentially means that the changes apply to only the new vehicles that roll out of the factory, and not for the cars that are already plying on the road.
